Voter Participation Center
The Voter Participation Center’s mission is to increase civic engagement among the Rising American Electorate: unmarried women, people of color, and millennials. The Rising American Electorate is responsible for over 80% of the growth in the U.S. population since 2000, and now comprises the majority of voting-eligible Americans. But because RAE members are statistically less likely to be registered to vote or engaged in the political process, they’re underrepresented in the voting booth. Our goal is to turn that around: to ensure that the Rising American Electorate is no longer underrepresented in our political conversation, and that the voices of the RAE are heard in numbers proportionate to their strength in the population.

The Brennan Center is at the center of the fight to preserve and expand the right to vote for every eligible citizen. The Center’s signature proposal, automatic voter registration, would save money, increase accuracy and participation — and add an additional 50 million voters to the rolls permanently. Nine states and the District of Columbia have already approved automatic voter registration, and 32 states have introduced automatic registration proposals this year.

Let America Vote
Jason Kander started Let America Vote to fight back against proposals across the country that make it harder for eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to cast a ballot. Whether it’s extreme identification requirements, questionable purges of voter rolls, voter intimidation, new and extreme voter registration processes, or anything that makes voting harder, Let America Vote will be there to lead the way against it. Through online and grassroots organizing, an aggressive earned media strategy, and advertising, Let America Vote will play a crucial role among the existing network of organizations fighting for voting rights.

Verified Voting
VerifiedVoting.org is a non-partisan non-profit organization that advocates for legislation and regulation that promotes accuracy, transparency and verifiability of elections. We believe the integrity and strength of our democracy relies on citizen’s trust that each vote be counted as cast. Our primary concern lies in ensuring that the means for verifying election outcomes are in place and used for that purpose. We also focus on the reliability and security of voting systems. We connect those who are making and implementing policy that shapes how we vote to those who understand the particular risks associated with the emerging digital landscape, particularly on-line and electronic voting.

Secure Our Vote
Election security is the way we protect our elections from interference and allow voters to feel confident that the results of an election are correct. Being able to trust election results is a cornerstone of democracy.
We can all ensure the safety of our elections, working with our local and state election officials to make sure all of our votes are counted. Join us to work to make sure that your community has the following safeguards in place:
Paper Record: Every voter can mark a paper ballot by hand or with an assistive device and verify their vote, so that there is a paper record of every vote cast.
Checking the Results: Officials subject machine-counted results to a robust manual post-election audit, that can detect and correct false outcomes.

2016 USA Election
Wide-ranging collection of videos and articles on 2016 Presidential election. “While most are sitting back wondering how much more ridiculous the Trump Presidency will get, others are working very hard behind the scenes doing everything possible to let the American public as well as other countries around the world, know, that this is a problem ... it is a very serious problem. Democracy is something that was fought hard for, our freedoms came at a very high price. If action to retain and maintain the democracy we enjoy, isn't taken ... the time may soon come that those freedoms will no longer be available.”

The 2016 Recount campaign affirmed the power of the American people to demand election integrity and a voting system free from modern-day Jim Crow in our elections. We pushed forward in three states, defiant in the face of political blockades, bureaucratic hurdles and financial intimidation. Over 10,000 volunteers and more than 161,000 donors made this historic recount effort possible. The Recount lifted the veil on serious problems in our voting system – out-of-date laws and overly complex recount procedures, politicized courts, machine failure and vulnerability, and flagrant racial inequities. Our efforts have brought attention to the urgent need for reforms to our electoral system, and to the recounts that are essential in order to safeguard our votes. We look forward to continuing our work together to make those reforms a reality.

Independent Voter Network
The Independent Voter Network (IVN.us) is an open news platform for independent-minded authors and readers. The mission of IVN is to raise the level of civil discourse to a place where solutions are more persuasive than talking points, and participation is not conditioned on your party affiliation. The current congressional approval rating is just over 10%, trust in the news media is under 30%, most importantly, voters are fleeing the parties in record numbers, with about HALF of Americans now describing themselves as independents. Still, with an increasingly partisan government and media, the voices of independent-minded Americans are not represented.

Protect Our Votes
We are a group of professionals, from many industries and backgrounds, who are researching election results through both data analyses and historical study of voting machines. We conduct in-depth, statistical research on state, county and precinct levels to determine the verity of the United States’ elections. We also work diligently to inform the public with how they can protect their votes: voter registration, checking voter registration status, checking polling place on election day etc. We strive for election transparency in all areas of our work. Transparency in the voting process strengthens peoples’ trust of the electoral process. We hope through added transparency to improve voters confidence in our elections.

Voting Rights Alliance
On April 21, 2016, nine members of Congress, two hundred activists and Congressional staff gathered for a historic Congressional briefing on the most pressing issues of 2016; voter suppression and manipulation of US elections. From that briefing, the new Congressional Voting Rights Caucus was formed, and the Voting Rights Alliance soon followed. The Voting Rights Alliance is a growing network of organizations, activists, and legislators working to restore and protect voting rights from concerted attacks that undermine our access to the polls, and to have our votes fairly counted.

Vote.org
Vote.org uses technology to simplify political engagement, increase voter turnout, and strengthen American democracy. One of our primary goals is eliminating the burden of printing and mailing paper forms.  Hewlett Packard stopped publishing statistics on home printer ownership back in 2011, when ownership rates were in the high single digits.  It is safe to say that home printer ownership is currently in the low single digits. Americans simply do not own printers anymore, and asking someone to print and mail a paper form is a roadblock to voter participation. .

Voting Booth
Edited by Steven Rosenfeld, Voting Booth examines the electoral process and political culture to find developments that help or impede citizens’ right to vote and their confidence in the results of elections. This ranges from how partisans tilt the process to how new technologies are transforming campaigns and elections, and public participation. Voting Booth explores what affects the most people, has greatest impacts, and what could result in the fairest, most trustable process..

We're a dedicated team of volunteers determined to see an end to the Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck system. That's right, we're taking down a national voter suppression machine and data security nightmare in our spare time. We've started by fighting this in our home, Illinois. That battle continues; however, we now realize this has national implications. We've created this site, which we will continue to build upon, to publish our research to enable concerned citizens in other Crosscheck states to ramp-up quickly and apply pressure on your state to leave Crosscheck.

National Conference of State Legislatures
We are the nation's most respected bipartisan organization providing states support, ideas, connections and a strong voice on Capitol Hill. In 1974, three organizations represented the interests of legislators and staff, but their influence was diluted. So seven inventive legislative leaders and two staffers got together and envisioned a single national organization to support, defend and strengthen state legislatures. After a survey of lawmakers and staff from around the country confirmed their idea was a good one, the three organizations dissolved, and on Jan. 1, 1975, the National Conference of State Legislatures was born.

The National Vote at Home Institute builds on the long-trusted and well-ingrained absentee voting process. It mails ballots to all voters and adds layers of checks and balances to ensure the integrity of elections. Despite this extra security, jurisdictions that use vote-at-home systems experience significant cost savings. Vote at home has wide acceptance in red, blue and purple states, with strong advocates on both sides of the aisle. Center for Democracy & Technology
At the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT), we believe in the power of the internet. CDT works to strengthen individual rights and freedoms by defining, promoting, and influencing technology policy and the architecture of the internet that impacts our daily lives. In our Election Security and Privacy Project, CDT seeks to identify and update election cybersecurity practices and work through potential remedies in a few critical areas: state voter registration systems, election auditing, and campaign data.

Election Cybersecurity Glossary
The ELECTION CYBERSECURITY GLOSSARY® is a comprehensive, centralized, and easy-to-use resource of election cybersecurity terms — a first-of-its-kind glossary of over 750 terms, combining terminology from over 30 separate sources covering election administration, cybersecurity, intelligence, defense, and national security. In May 2018, the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee issued a slate of six recommendations for securing the nation’s voting infrastructure against future hostile nation-state attacks. One recommendation called for election stakeholders to “develop a common set of precise and well-defined election security terms to improve communication." We propose to achieve the challenge posed by the Senate Intelligence Committee with the assistance of the entire election security community.

National Committee on Voting Integrity
The National Committee for Voting Integrity (NCVI) is an EPIC project that brings together experts on voting issues from across the country to promote constructive dialogue among computer scientists, elections administrators, voting rights advocates, policymakers, the media and the public on the best methods for achieving in practice: fair, reliable, secure, accessible, transparent, accurate, accountable, and auditable public elections. In keeping with the goal of public election administration we are working to ensure that election systems preserve the secret ballot, accuracy, privacy, integrity, and the proper tabulation of the voter's intent regardless of his or her physical condition, language of origin, or literacy ability.

Leadership Conference on Civil & Human Rights
The Leadership Conference’s founders came together in 1950 out of the belief that the fight for civil rights could not be won by one group alone, but needed to be waged in coalition. Our members — which have grown from 30 civil and human rights organizations at our founding to more than 200 today — differ in size, scope, and structure. But what transcends our differences and unites us is our enduring common purpose: full equality for all. We are working to modernize elections and build a 21st century democracy — a democracy where all of our voices are heard. With our coalition partners, we inform the public, decision-makers, and the media about barriers to voting and advocate for policies that expand the right to vote, especially in communities of color. Voting, and the ability to participate in democracy, is a racial justice issue. It is a civil rights issue. And we are overdue for a change.

Equal Citizens
Mission: Equal Citizens has one simple but incredibly important mission: to fix democracy by establishing truly equal citizenship. Once we, as a nation, have done that, we may then take on all the other challenges facing us. The good news is, since Congress created this problem, Congress can fix this problem. The legislation to do so has already been written. Now it’s simply a matter of making sure Congress hears our voices and acts to make us truly equal citizens.

WorkElections.com
WorkElections.com offers a solution to one of the main obstacles to poll worker recruitment: a lack of accessible, centralized information that can reach wide audiences. Typically, local election officials advertise via their limited online presence, local media, and community events, and often overly rely on their existing volunteer roster rather than recruiting younger, more multilingual, and computer-proficient candidates. Work Elections will be promoted widely in an effort to attract a new pool of volunteers.

Fair Elections Center
Fair Elections Center was established in 2017 as a 501(c)(3) organization. The Center is affiliated with and began as the Fair Elections Legal Network which was established in 2006 by Washington D.C. public interest lawyer Bob Brandon and former Congresswoman Elizabeth Holtzman. The organization grew out of a meeting on February 6, 2006 attended by over 60 voting rights and mobilization organizations and a number of pro bono election lawyers. The purpose of the meeting was to gauge support for creating a national network of pro bono election lawyers who could provide support for year-round, proactive election reforms at the state and local level and provide centralized staff to help organizations navigate the intricacies of the election laws in order to increase voter participation.

VoteWell.net
This website has been established by concerned citizens. Our hope is that people will discuss and invent ways to make elections more secure, and identify and recover from security breaches. Computers and paper ballots kept under lock and key have different vulnerabilities. Neither is inherently safe, so neither is an absolute check on the other. Copies of ballots are automatically made during elections. If they can be distributed right after the election, they bypass many vulnerabilities. We welcome ideas on all approaches.

National Task Force on Election Crises
Our mission transcends party and ideology.
The National Task Force on Election Crises is a diverse, cross-partisan group of more than 50 experts in election law, election administration, national security, cybersecurity, voting rights, civil rights, technology, media, public health, and emergency response. The Task Force’s core mission is to ensure a free and fair 2020 presidential election by recommending responses to a range of election crises. Our focus is ensuring that the election runs smoothly during challenging circumstances, that disputes are handled in a way that maximizes confidence in the outcome, and that there is a peaceful transition or continuation of power on January 20, 2021. The only electoral outcome the Task Force advocates is that the election is free and fair.

V-Dem Institute
Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) is a new approach to conceptualizing and measuring democracy. We provide a multidimensional and disaggregated dataset that reflects the complexity of the concept of democracy as a system of rule that goes beyond the simple presence of elections. The V-Dem project distinguishes between five high-level principles of democracy: electoral, liberal, participatory, deliberative, and egalitarian, and collects data to measure these principles.
